Planning Technical Support and Training

The Climate Change Skills Fund technical support and training programme was delivered by Envirolink, in association with Quantum and AECOM, to assist local planning authorities effectively implement climate change and low carbon planning policies, and confidently assess planning applications for low carbon and renewable energy proposals.

The technical support and training programme included the following:

 

1. Technical Training Workshops

Technical training workshops delivered included:

  • Sustainable Design and Low Carbon Buildings
  • Stand Alone Renewable Electricity Technologies
  • Understanding Energy: Electricity Grids and Renewable Energy Connections
  • Heat Supply Technologies and Heat Networks
  • Understanding Energy Statements and Carbon Calculations
  • Planning for Climate Change Adaptation

2. Low Carbon Briefings and Site Visits

Low carbon briefings and site visits delivered included:

3. Coaching Service

The aim of the coaching service was to provide local planning authorities with initial technical advice and support to help inform decisions or address specific low carbon issues. A summary of the advice provided is available in the resource library.
